Client Background

Decorative diffuser bottles company Mosteb was approached by a home fragrance manufacturer in Lyon, France, who was about to launch new high-end diffuser bottles line to the boutique retailers and lifestyle stores in Europe. The client had the special decorative diffuser bottle to display their company brand idea of modern elegance and warmness of nature, as well as, the requirements of their product functionalities such as fragrance diffusion and safe transportation.

The client has decided to use Mosteb, which is a professional diffuser bottles company, based on several important factors after assessing various suppliers:

  • Better experience in production of glass diffuser bottles.
  • Very high skills in decorative art like gradient coating, embossing, and frosting.
  • Constant capacity with quality control.
  • Business-level communication and accommodating assistance during the customization.

Aesthetic design, functional performance, and reliable production were the main aspects of our project that made us the right candidate to work on their project.

Challenges

There were two significant challenges that were faced during the development of the customized decorative bottle of diffusers.

  • Translating the Natural-Luxury Concept into Glass Design in the Brand

The French brand desired a bottle which would give a visual message of warmth and a perfect look of nature. Their design needed a low amber gradient apply and slight vertical supply, which enabled the light to pass into the glass and still had a sophisticated look.

Nonetheless, it was technically difficult to have a smooth gradient effect on textured glass surfaces. The coating had to be even and lasting without forming the formation of colors within the ridges of the texture. As well, the thickness of the bottle needed to be the same to eliminate distortion of the same during annealing.

A combination of the intricate decorations and production efficiency had to be carefully engineered and shaped through process modification.

  • Checking This Compatibility with Diffuser Oils and Reed Sticks

The fragrance oils used by the client were in high concentrations of essential oils and solvents which might have an impact on the durability of the coating and clarity of the glass in the long run. Meanwhile, the diameter of the bottle neck needed to be highly regulated so that the reed sticks were placed in the most appropriate position and to allow the fragrance to diffuse.

Even a few millimeters were enough to affect the rates of evaporation or introduce instability in the cases when several reeds were put in. It meant that the bottle form needed to be as strictly dimensional and still allow the decorative detail that was needed.

Result

To overcome these issues, Mosteb came up with a solution which was detailed and integrated design refinement as well as technical optimization.

The parameters of molding the glasses and the surface treatment processes were altered by our engineering team to ensure a balanced gradient finish that did not interfere with the visual consistency. We also did compatibility tests to make sure that the coating did not dislodge under the influence of essential oils and fragrance solvents.

During the project, we had a very close contact with the client with exchanging sample assessments, technical modifications, and production updates. This teamwork movement enabled us to revise the design to the extent that it perfectly aligned to the vision of the brand.

The ultimate ornamental stylized diffuser bottles were able to grasp the aesthetic notion of the client without compromising on its high durability, accurate dimension and production confidence. The completed goods were shipped on time which helped their new line of fragrances to open successfully.

How We Did It

  1. Pre-Production Planning: When establishing the brand, we engaged the client to get a clear picture of their brand positioning, product concept, and market objectives at the initial phase. In our design and engineering, the feasibility was studied, technical drawings were drawn, and the various solutions involving surface treatments were offered to bring out the intended decorative effects.
  2. Sample Production and Optimization: Samples were made of prototypes and mailed to the client to be evaluated. In response to the feedback on the color intensity used, clarity of the texture and proportion of the bottles we adjusted the process of coating and the mold itself until our final sample was completed and satisfied all the expectations.
  3. Mass Production and Cost Optimization: After the design was agreed upon, we did some optimization of the production flow to get consistent quality without going overboard with expenses. Stringent quality tests were introduced during the process of moulding, annealing, surface treatment, and packaging.
  4. Constant Communication and Provision of Assurance: Through the process of mass production, there was a consistent communication between the client and ourselves where we updated him on the progress of production and the timeframes. This was able to create transparency and enabled us to respond fast to all requests and this ensured timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
