Context
A Belgian customer approached us to design and build a custom irregular-shaped tall glass candle holders. High end home decoration requires the product to combine artistic design with safety and functionality to meet market demands.
Challenge
Irregular sizes are notorious to produce in the construction of glass. The complexity of the form increases the risk of stress concentration, deformation and surface defects during molding and cooling. The primary challenge was to achieve both beauty appeal and relevant security.
Result
Although the challenges were unavoidable, we were committed to our theory of our customers ever compromising or confusing our customers. To address issues of stress concentration and deformation, we adapted mold design and cooling processes supported by strict quality control. During the project, we remain in close communication with the client, provide updates and adjustments at each stage. The final product successfully distributed both artistic beauty and security, earning high praise from the client.
