1. Client Background
The client, a small flower company in the Netherlands, wanted to elevate their flower arrangements by packaging them in custom vintage glass bud vases. They sought packaging that would complement the natural beauty of their flowers while providing a quaint and timeless artisanal look. The client engaged Mosteb for our combination of reliability and detail in creating fine glassware that worked well with the quality of their brand.

2. Challenge
Producing vintage glass bud vases appears to be simple at first glance. However, the complexity lies with the embossed textures and decorative details. There were concerns that the textures would distort or lose definition due to the high temperature at which the vases were formed and then cooled. These imperfections could easily take away from the desired authentic vintage visual experience.

3. Cause Analysis
The engineering team performed detailed assessments and we summarized these to the core challenges:
- Heat and cooldown cycles can easily distort fine embossed patterns.
- Constraints from glass flow create inconsistencies when molding and affect surface detailing.
- Maintaining structural integrity with decorative sharpness is very tricky to manage.
With that said, we never compromise or lead clients astray. Therefore, we addressed the issue, we adjusted production specifications, added some quality checks in-line, and we also made sure that the client and their team knew we were there to make their vision happen.

4. Solution
To address the challenges we identified, we reached a few solutions:
- Advanced Mold Engineering – We redesigned molds to create visually sharper engravings by adjusting engraving depth for high temperatures.
- Controlled Cycle Cooling – We introduced an annealing cycle to address altering the texture.
- Enhanced Surface – We polished the product post-molding for engaging tight patterns on the glass that did not compromise its strength or structure.
- Sample Collaboration – We produced multiple samples and made adjustments based on client feedback derived from samples and feedback until we achieved the ideal aesthetic inviting the vintage appeal.
5. Result
The last consignment of vintage glass bud vases sent to the Dutch flower company was a happy success. The embossed textures of the glass were sharp and consistent with no distortion or fading in the detail. The vases worked beautifully with their floral product line, but more importantly, the vases supported and even elevated their premium brand positioning in boutique retail spaces alongside their floral arrangements. With the consistent production quality and timely delivery, this collaboration allowed the client’s floral arrangements to be promoted as both decorative and collectible works, as well as their footprint in the European luxury floral space.
