Mosteb has been a dependable and trustworthy glass flower vase vendor, and our recent endeavor was a collaboration with a floral workshop based in the U.S. The workshop that produces fabulous floral designs for high-end events wanted to create an impact with a one-of-a-kind Blumenvase aus Glas that, besides holding the flowers, would also convey their charm and style. The luxury brand intended their vases not only to be decorated with the elaborate floral patterns but also to have a quiet frosted effect along with very thin gold rims to give them that extra luxury touch. 2. Herausforderung
Making these vases can be seen as a simple task; however, they hit the road with three main stumbling blocks:
- Smooth Surface Finishing: The aesthetics of the vases were of utmost concern, thus requiring them to have a perfectly smooth and well-polished surface. This point was especially significant as the vases were made in a way that the light would be reflected, thus needing brilliance and flawlessness. If there is any scratch or imperfection, these will noticeably dim the visual power of the vases.
- Complex Pattern Mold Creation: The floral workshop intended to have the most sophisticated, deeply etched designs on their vases’ decorative surfaces. The pattern’s complexity challenge involved the requirement of very exact mold-making. Every detail in the engravings and the patterns had to be transferred perfectly from the mold to the glass, and even the tiniest mistake in the mold design could mean distorted or inconsistent patterns.

The technical team here at Mosteb went through an exhaustive diagnosis and pointed out the production issues that were at the heart of the problem:
- Oberflächenbeschaffenheit: The problem was glass expansion and contraction that happens naturally during cooling and changes in temperature can lead to minor, sometimes unnoticeable surface imperfections even when the newly produced mold is flawless.
- Pattern Precision: The problem of the complicated engravings was that the slightest difference in pressure or temperature of the mold during production could cause the patterns on the glass surface to be not only blurred but also less sharp than expected. Semiconductor manufacturing process has to be extremely accurate, and it is very difficult to spot the source of a small inconsistency, as it could distort any of the intricate design details.
To achieve this, our engineers examined the molding and cooling processes and figured out the way to control temperature fluctuation. Moreover, they made sure that the molds that they were going to use were made with very close fit to the details of the desired engraving.

4. Lösung
- Advanced Cooling Techniques: Our client was able to get what he asked for: the vases with a flawless, clear finish, thanks to our newly adopted method of cooling that was more thorough and hence surface defects were less likely to happen. We implemented the use of temperature-controlled cooling racks and kept the cooling rate under constant observation for each vase thereby defects were kept at bay.
- Precision Mold Making: To better the mold production, we deeply penetrated the precision of the process by employing better machines that would be more accurate thus floral pattern reaching can be more consistent and that can be in fewer duplications.
