Mosteb was approached by a tealight holder importer from Stockholm, Sweden who specialise in distribution to Scandinavian style home decor retailers who were experiencing a high rate of retail demand for theelichthouders. As a professional tealight holder factory, Mosteb created an exclusive tealight holder range with a beautiful clear glass body with vertical ribbed texture, and a slightly frosted upper rim, with a seasonal matte black metal sleeve optional.
The ribbed texture was selected to improve the diffusion of candlelight, giving a warm glow, ideal for cold climates and Nordic design, and the frosted rim for a decorative contrast. The metal sleeve option provided options for seasonal styling for the winter and festive markets. Our ability to maintain a stable factory production capability, coupled with our custom control and consistent quality output for bulk import programs was the reason that Mosteb was chosen for the client.
Uitdagingen
- Product dimensions are not consistent, making it difficult to import them
Previously the importer made one request to several sources causing some variation in height/diameter. This led to losses in the packaging process, misaligned pallets, and higher shipping expenses because of the unstable stacking during shipment to Nordic warehouses.
- The issue of fractured relationships with the UK and the EU
Past shipments were affected by breakage in sea freight, particularly for lack of base strength and shock absorbing packing which resulted in loss of inventory and longer distribution cycles to the retail market.
Resultaat
Our engineering team studied the samples and logistics reports that were returned and came up with two key problems:
- Dimensional inconsistency due to not strict mold standardization for each production batch.
- Lack of structural reinforcement at the bottom made it easier to be affected by vibrations in the vehicle during transportation.

We then simulated the shipping stress conditions and analysed the structural weak points under repeated stacking stress.
Oplossing
- Precise mould manufacturing and dimension tolerances have been controlled, ensuring consistent import stacking.
- Thickened base and evenly distributed glass weight for extra support and stability.
- Reinforced export packaging with internal compartment dividers were developed to minimize movement.
- Provided batch inspection methods such as drop impact and dimensional testing before shipment.
- Organized pre-shipment sample approval to be in line with importer requirements.
Resultaat
The custom-made tealight holders were delivered successfully with the number of major breakage incidents being zero, and with a greatly enhanced stacking efficiency during import handling. The Swedish importer stated improved warehouse efficiency and consistency of products in the retail market.
