Client Background
The collaboration between the decorative diffuser bottles supplier and a fragrance formulation lab located in Barcelona, Spain, started when a laboratory requested Mosteb to collaborate in the wholesale decorative diffuser bottle customization to its new ambient scent testing line. The laboratory works on the creation of fragrances of boutique brands and hospitality clients and required aesthetically perfect bottles to attract the diffusion of samples and present them to the client.
They produced a 130 ml clear glass diffuser bottle, which has a softly faceted and oval shape, light etched surface (gives a satin feel) and a natural solid-wood stopper that fits with regular diffuser reeds. The reason behind the use of this style was to introduce fragrance formulas in unobtrusive but classy vase that would not take precedence over scent analysis. Mosteb was selected by us as a supplier of decorative diffuser bottles that has in-house control of molding, consistent bulk production and can modify the design towards functional testing and appearance.
Challenges
- Ensuring uniformity in surface texture in bulk quantities in parallel testing systems.
- Stability of bottles and the control of evaporation of long durations of fragrance assessment.
Cause Analysis
Our group determined that surface inconsistency was frequently caused by the unbalanced etch depth and unregulated process time. Moreover, the bottle bases of standard types were not designed to be used in the lab benches with a long duration. As a solution, we experimented with several finishing parameters and assessed structural data of liquid retention and stability.
Solution
- Unified acid-etching cycles to obtain consistent satin texture of all units.
- Seeing how to adjust the base thickness and weight distribution to enhance balance and slow down the tipping.
- Also tested evaporation-rate with reeds to confirm functionality.
- Provided the pre-production samples to be checked before wholesale production.
Result
The ornamental bottles of the diffuser were supplied on time and fitted with the workflow of the laboratory tests effectively. The client noted that the quality of presentation was better when evaluated and the sample loss decreased. The successful project resulted into the continued wholesale collaboration in further diffuser bottle formats.
