Client Background
Our cilent is a budding vase importer – an independent home décor importer based in Denmark, supplying curated floral accessories to interior designers and lifestyle boutiques across Copenhagen and Aarhus.They also partnered with Mosteb, a professional budding vase factory to undertake their budding vase importation in order to increase their seasonal collection.
They designed a small clear glass budding vase with a soft fluted body, a slightly narrowed neck with an optional removable cork plug. This design was selected to accommodate single-stem plans and be flexible enough to accommodate fresh and dried flowers. The factors that led them to choose Mosteb as our factory-direct pricing, export experience to the EU markets, and good ability to balance design detail to production stability are as follows.
Challenges
- Poor consistency in the quality of the previous suppliers such as unevenness in wall thickness which influenced visual-consistency.
- Fears of breakage during long distance transportation because of light weight vase designs.
Cause Analysis
The main challenges as discovered by our team were the lack of accuracy in moulds and the lack of packaging design of glassware in the small format. In response, we re-examined the past samples of the client and put structural weak points to the test. We also examined transit damages trends of previous imports.
Solution
- Had a reformulated visual and structural conformity revised mold with tight tolerance of thickness.
- Added some base weight just to enhance stability without the material cost increasing substantially.
- Reinforced inner cartons in single compartments to minimize movements during shipping.
- Pre-shipment samples and crystal clear QC reports prior to bulk production.
Result
The shipment was completed punctually and no breakage was reported. Retail clients gave the new budding vases a positive review and the number of repeat orders had gone up by 35% in the first season. This studio has since gone ahead and extended its collaboration with Mosteb to incorporate more vase designs in their further imports.
