For a home styling retailer from Switzerland that had expanded its product offering of decorative items for furniture stores and boutique interior shops, the purchase project for table vase import was carefully considered. Mosteb, a professional table vase factory, worked with retailer to create a custom-made glass table vase collection. The final design featured a clear oval shaped vase with a textured soft wave around the body, a small aperture for the single stem flower and a reinforced flat base of the vase.
It was decided that the wave texture would be used to enable light to reflect in a dynamic manner under indoor lighting conditions, allowing the product to stand out on the retail shelves without the need of complicated finishing processes. The small opening facilitated the positioning of decorative branches and small flowers, and the strengthened base ensured stability when handling daily.

Uitdaging
- Finding a balance between unique design and production feasibility: The client was seeking to create table vases with a unique design that would be able to stand out from the ordinary designs available in the market. Some past suppliers, however, offered complicated configurations which raised the mould manufacturing costs and production risk, and were not easily applicable to large volume purchases.
- Reducing damage risks during international transportation: Safe shipment from Asia to Europe was of paramount importance since the vases had to be transported. To prevent cracks or breakage, the packaging protection of fragile glass products were found to be inadequate in previous sourcing experiences, and the carton structures were unstable.

Hoe we het deden
- Ontwerpadvies: Mosteb werkte samen met de klant om inzicht te krijgen in hun gewenste doelgroep, winkelomgevingen en ontwerpstijlen. Het ontwerp dat we voorstelden, was een golvende textuur op het glas, zodat het er aantrekkelijk uit zou zien en tegelijkertijd geschikt zou zijn voor massaproductie.
- Technische beoordeling: Het engineeringteam voerde een reeks tests uit op het gebied van productstructuur, matrijsvereisten, glasdikte en productie-efficiëntie. Er werden aanpassingen gedaan om de duurzaamheid te vergroten zonder het oorspronkelijke ontwerpconcept te veranderen.
- Bemonstering: We hebben een aantal proefmonsters gemaakt om te testen voordat we met de productie begonnen. De klant controleerde de vorm van de vaas, het textuureffect, de stabiliteit en de verpakkingseigenschappen voordat hij de definitieve vorm goedkeurde.
- Productie: Mosteb hield alle productiestadia nauwlettend in de gaten – van het vormen van de mal tot de glasinspectie, oppervlaktecontrole, maatvoering en de uiteindelijke inspectie van de verpakking – om uniformiteit tijdens de productie te garanderen.
