A home fragrance and home décor distributor from Portugal was looking for a dependable supplier of decorative diffuser bottles wholesale of their home fragrance products, which they had been purchasing from a local supplier for several years.
It provided its services to the life style and gift shops and fragrance companies in Portugal and Spain. The distributor wanted to launch a new line of contemporary, durable decorative reed diffuser bottles to diversify its product and enhance its market presence.
The company looked at a number of suppliers until they decided to work with Mosteb due to our experience in custom glass manufacturing, mold development and large-scale wholesale production.
The project was aimed at creating a decorative diffuser bottle of 200ml with:
- A circular square shape
- Fluted patterns in an elegant vertical manner
- A matte ceramic look screwcap
- A leak-proof inner insert
- The shelf appeal for the store is excellent
The goal was to design a bottle that would be both decorative and functional and have efficient wholesale distribution.
Desafios
The bottle design was simple but the distributor had two reoccurring problems that had an impact on the quality of the product and customer satisfaction.
Inconsistent Neck Dimensions
The previous suppliers made bottles that had some significant differences in the neck diameter and the size of the thread. These inconsistencies caused issues when assembling:
- Reed sticks did not lay flat
- Caps appeared misaligned
- There are some inserts that fit tightly or loosely
- Product presentation was lacking at retail level
Minor dimensional variations can make a major difference when it comes time to install thousands of decorative diffuser bottles wholesale programs.
Breakage During Distribution
There was also an increase in breakage during in-transit and warehouse handling by the distributor.
Key causes included:
- Thin bottle walls
- Uneven stress distribution
- Insufficient carton protection
- The compression of multi-layer pallets over a long distance

The engineering team of Mosteb received returned products, packaging samples, and technical drawings from the client.
There were two main causes discovered during the investigation.
- Mold Tolerance: Variations Low tolerances on small dimensions created during high volume production because of loose mold tolerances and inconsistent cooling control. The differences in these were significant on both neck accuracy and bottle uniformity.
- Packaging Structure Limitations: The existing packaging system was intended for transport use and not for long term use in a warehouse. Pallets placed in distribution centers subjected to compression pressures, which were excessive, directly onto the glass containers resulting in an increased risk of cracking and breakage. Our engineers worked on the structure of the bottle and also on the performance of the packaging to solve these concerns.
Solução
Mosteb adopted a comprehensive optimization program for manufacturing, quality control and logistics protection.
Improved Neck Precision
Refined bottle neck finish and reduced production tolerances for consistent compatibility with reed sticks, inserts and decorative caps.
This enabled all bottles to be given a uniform appearance and to be assembled.
Enhanced Structural Strength
Localised wall thickness changes were used to reinforce high stress regions in the bottle.
This enhancement not only added more impact resistance but did so without adding significant weight or shipping costs.
Optimized Annealing Process
We have made changes to the annealing cycle to minimise the internal stress within the glass structure.
The better cooling process increased durability and optical clarity and aesthetic appeal.
Reinforced Wholesale Packaging
To minimise transportation damage, Mosteb designed more efficient export packing comprising of:
- High-density dividers
- Stronger inner cartons
- The new guidelines for pallet stacking are more user-friendly
- Enhanced shock protection
Such modifications proved to be very beneficial for long distance European distribution.
Batch Inspection System
Dimensional verification of each production batch was performed prior to shipping.
Inspection records included:
- Neck diameter measurements
- Height consistency checks
- Wall thickness verification
- Visual quality assessments
This quality control procedure provided uniformity in big quantity orders.
Resultados
The final decorative diffuser bottles were satisfactory in both functional and aesthetic aspects.
